Our Young Professionals Board recently held a fundraiser aimed at establishing a calming corner at a Mid-Del School. What exactly is a calming corner? It's a designated oasis within the school environment, crafted to foster relaxation, emotional balance, and mental wellness. Typically found in high schools and middle schools, these corners offer students a safe haven where they can navigate stress, anxiety, and various emotional hurdles that pop up during the school day.

The benefits of such a space are far-reaching, and include:

  • Safe & Peaceful Environment

  • Emotional Regulation

  • Stress Reduction

  • Improved Focus

  • Increased Self-Regulation Skills

  • Enhanced Emotional Intelligence

Offering tools and techniques for emotional regulation, it equips them with essential skills for navigating the ups and downs of school life. Stress reduction is another key advantage; students can retreat to this haven when feeling overwhelmed, allowing them to recharge and refocus.
